Story
I am a 24 year old mother of twin boys. On 20/09/2015 our life changed as we knew it. A few weeks earlier i was diagnosed with pneumonia, the only symptons i had was i was coughing up a little bit of blood. I attended the hospital as i thought i had had a reaction to the antibiotics i was given by the doctors about a week earlier. I was admitted into the hospital after they had done a second xray as the antibiotics hadnt affected the pnumonia as the thought it was. The next morning i was sent for a CT scan. I returned to the ward and was then asked to contact my family. We were sat down and told them words (we have found a tumour) after biospsys and all the tests and scans you can think of. On 02/10/2015 At age 24 i was diagnosed with stage 3 small cell lung cancer. I dont have much of a story at this point as it is just the begining hopefully not the end. My story needs telling and sharing as it is so rare in people of my age and there isnt much research in younger cases of lung cancer. The average age of a lung cancer patient is 72. Cancer affects alot of people in the world and my heart has always gone out to people and familys going through any type of cancer but until you have to sit and think about how one day i might have to tell my 5 year old boys i am going to die. I had no idea how hard that would be. My aim is to raise awareness about lung cancer. It doesnt just happen to older people that smoke 40 a day. It can happen to anyone. Any sort of cancer any time any age. Everyone need making aware. Please please share and support cancer research.
