A cardiac arrest is when the heart stops beating. CPR and the use of a defibrillator before the ambulance arrives doubles the chance of survival.

Story

It’s been 10 weeks since we lost our beautiful Vicky, the most amazing daughter, mother, sister and auntie 💕

On Saturday, footballer Christian Erikson almost suffered the same fate...the difference being that he was in the right place at the right time. Quite simply, he received CPR within the first minutes of collapsing AND the use of a defibrillator!
- 80% of cardiac arrests happen at home
- Only 10% of those people survive a CA
- HOWEVER, the use of a defibrillator and CPR within the first few minutes of CA, can improve survival rates by 50-70%
- It took 14 mins for emergency services to reach my Daughter. Unfortunately this is the reality of our current resource-light health service
- survival rates decrease by 10% for every minute without CPR/defibrillation
What’s my point??
Please find out where your local defibrillator is and use it ASAP.
Don’t wait for the emergency services to start CPR/defibrillation because it will be too late!
If your not confident with giving CPR/using a defib, watch a 2 minute tutorial online www.awyrlas.org.uk/keepthebeats. Have a plan in case this happens to your loved one, and be confident in executing it.❤️

On the 21st August I'm going to be part of the cardiology team walking up a 3,000 ft mountain in Snowdonia, to raise money for more life saving Defibrillators to be placed in the community. Please support us. 😊
