I'm running for the Alzheimer's Society to honour my stepmother, who had a complex form of dementia; my father whose own life was altered beyond recognition because he cared for her, for five years; my maternal grandmother, and paternal step grandmother, both of whom suffered from dementia; my best friend, who is a dementia friend and works endlessly and tirelessly to support dementia sufferers; and all of my friends (there are many) who have at some point had some kind of contact with this dreadful disease.  Alzheimer's is a long, cruel goodbye, and is increasingly common.  And it's not just an old person's disease. Early onset Alzheimer's is becoming increasingly common.  The Alzheimers Society do incredible work to support sufferers and their families.  You can help them, by donating (and selecting Gift Aid if you're a UK Tax Payer).  Not only will you be providing amazing support to an invaluable service, but you will be paying for me to suffer over miles and miles and bloomin' miles!!
