Story
Eden Valley Hospice provides palliative care and enables people with life limiting illnesses and their carers to live life as fully as possible. Providing palliative care is difficult and expensive and hospices have recently been under extraordinary pressures.
To celebrate the life of our friend Julian Davey and to raise some money for Eden Valley Hospice, who took care of him, Vernon Gayle, Jim Turner and Chris Gunstone will be running the Old Crown Round in September (41km / 25 miles and 2,539 metres of uphill).
Julian was an amazing bloke and you may know him from Cambridge University, The British Council, Hesket Newmarket Brewery, The Old Crown pub, the Citizens Advice Bureau, Theatre By The Lake, Hash House Harriers, wild swimming, woodwork classes, choir, skiing, caving, climbing or running in the fells.
We have chosen this challenge because Julian was the founding chairman of Hesket Newmarket Brewery.
We will start (and finish) at The Old Crown Pub and visit the summits of High Pike, Great Cockup, Skiddaw, Blencathra and Carrock Fell, which are mountains that all give their names to beers brewed by Hesket Newmarket Brewery.
Rather than buying three pints and a bag of crisps for Vernon, Jim and Chris please can you give to the hospice who are pleased to receive donations of any size (see https://www.edenvalleyhospice.org/).
