Story
I guess most of you reading this page must be getting fed up with my asking you to sponsor me and I can understand that, given this will be my seventh Marathon and each time I've come begging for your support. Well this time I'm not just asking you to sponsor me but I'm also asking you to sponsor Valerie who will be attempting her first Marathon run.
Running a marathon is a massive undertaking and I can't believe Valerie is going to give it a go, especially as she's seen firsthand how much effort and pain goes into both the training and then the run itself. There again if it was easy anyone could do it and when it comes to running a marathon anyone can't do it, you have to be Motivated, Focused and Organized. You also have to be prepared to put in the training, Valerie and I are following a training plan that means we go running 5 times per week, on one of our rest days we do some cross training and we have to follow this routine for the 14-weeks leading up to the London Marathon on April 17th.
So please dig deep and help spur Valerie (and me) on as we pound the streets of London, following that thin blue line in the road for 26.2 miles, which I think is around 46,000 strides, meaning each foot hits the ground 23,000 times – sounds painful already but remember “pain goes away but quitting lasts forever”!
As in previous years the charity we are supporting is Addaction, Addaction rebuilds lives affected by drink and drugs. They provide specialist support to help people break free from their dependencies, including initiatives for young people and parents, helping them build a brighter future for themselves as well as their families and surrounding community.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Many thanks in advance for your support,
Best wishes,
Mike
