Story
In 2016 I lived in a rural village in Bangladesh while volunteering for Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO). Throughout lockdown I have thought about the potential impact of the virus on my host family, the surrounding community and those in similar communities across the world.
Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) fights poverty not by sending aid but by working with volunteers to create a sustainable change to some of the world’s poorest regions. Projects focus on education, health and livelihood development - three sectors which the pandemic will have had the most significant effect on.
To support VSO's fight against poverty which is further exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic I have created a challenge to raise both funds and awareness.
The event will take place over 24hrs from 7am on the 15th August.
To get involved I am asking you within this time period to:
- Go for a walk, run or cycle as far as you can or wish to.
- Record the distance via a tracking app/device (Strava, Fitbit, Apple watch etc). Post a screenshot in the facebook event (linked below) or email to me at libby.bennett96@gmail.com.
- Donate as much or as little as you wish to VSO via this page.
- All participants will be entered into a prize draw - prizes include Silverback Wild Strawberry Gin donated by Gorilla Spirits, running/cycling bundle, wine & fudge.
Please share with your friends and family, anyone can get involved!
No pressure or competition over distances, time or donations- any support will be greatly appreciated. It will be amazing to see how many kilometres we can collectively cover while raising money for a fantastic charity!
Any questions feel free to message or email me!
