Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. I'd like to ask for your help with an important initiative at Sheffield Hallam University.
Why I'm riding...
Sheffield Hallam made history earlier this year by becoming the first ever university to sponsor the Grand Depart of the Tour de France, enabling our students to become intimately involved with the world greatest cycle race through volunteer roles and placements across many of the subject areas we teach.
Beyond those immediate benefits, we would like the Tour de France to have a lasting legacy for our students and our community and in support of that objective, I will be riding the second stage of the Tour - 200km from York to Sheffield - on June 29th with riders from the University's cycling team and other members of our community.
Who I'm riding for...
There are two beneficiaries of this ride:
- The Vice-Chancellor's Fund for Care Leavers - a new initiative for Sheffield Hallam. This fund will provide bursaries for students who join us from the care system. These students face significant challenges in accessing and continuing their studies and a gift to this fund will truly help them to transform their lives.
- Marie Curie Cancer Care - the very well-deserved official charity of the Tour de France. Marie Curie nurses provide cancer patients and their families with hands on care and emotional support, right until the end of their lives.
Please make a donation today to support the ride. Whatever you gan give will make an impact on the lives of our students and our community.
Thank you...
Thank you so much for your support. Please join us for the end of the ride in Hallam Square on June 29th around 6pm.
