As a family, we are shocked and saddened by the conflict in Ukraine. It is hard to imagine the terror, uncertainty and exhaustion that war brings - the burden on those who take up arms and those they leave behind; the unimaginable pain of fleeing one's home and stepping out into an unsafe and unknown world. In the face of all of the violence, destruction and heartache, we wanted to find a way to show our support for those people who have been affected. We want to share a message of love and connection - one that speaks to our universal humanity, our oneness, not those things that divide us.
We are raising money for the DePaul International Ukraine Crisis Appeal. Depaul have been working in the Ukraine since 2007 providing support for those who are homeless. They are currently struggling to support two waves of homelessness - those people who were already homeless before the conflict began, and those who have now fled their homes and have never experienced homelessness before.
On Sunday night, the four of us will be sleeping in our tent overnight outside our home. While we know this is nothing like the hardship that is facing
those affected by the Ukraine conflict, we hope this act will raise awareness and help to share our message of love and empathy.
If you feel you might like to contribute to our campaign, your donation (however small) will make a real difference to the life of somebody in need. The money we raise will go directly to DePaul International and support their invaluable work on the ground in the Ukraine - supporting those who have been displaced from their homes and providing food, warmth, shelter and support.
£10 will pay for lunches for 50 people
£20 covers the cost of 4 people visiting a day centre and accessing crucial services
£50 keeps a heating tent for 40 people running for a night
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Perhaps you will be encouraged to take your own steps to share a message of love and unity.
