Story
Hi everyone!
We have an exciting trip ahead- Ash and I and 7 others from the RSK Group will be embarking on a 2 week trip out to Uganda in support of UgandAid! We will be carrying out work to help revamp the Nile Vocational Institute (NVI). RSK sponsors UgandAid every month and they asked whether anyone would be interested in going out on their first visit since covid to help with the revamp. This sounded like an adventure and a chance to do something useful and meaningful so we signed up!
UgandAid supports vulnerable young Ugandans, sponsoring them through quality vocational training, bringing hope and enabling them to break free of the cycle of poverty. The NVI offers vocational training for students on subjects such as catering, secretarial studies, hairdressing, mechanics and tractor operation to provide students with lifelong skills for the future.
UgandAid have been running these trips for 20 years and made
real positive changes to people’s lives. This year we will be helping to revamp their Catering and Hotel Management Department and medical centre which have been sadly neglected for some time. We will be redecorating, tiling and providing new equipment, things we take for granted in the UK.
How can you help?
To fully undertake all the work and purchase of equipment we would like to, the costs can easily rack up to a few thousand pounds. All of
the fees to go on this trip go towards the project and any money from fundraising will also go directly to helping the projects we are working on and the students at NVI.
As part of the project we will also be providing metal boxes for the students to store their belongings in and we would like to decorate these and supply padlocks to make them secure. If anyone has any padlocks (with keys rather than code preferably) that they would like to donate or paintbrushes or stencils (images or letters, numbers etc anything!) that we could use we would be very grateful!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any support you give!
