Story
Hi All!
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
In July 2018 a group of proud Clare men and women will travel to Jinja in Uganda with softpower education. We are fundraising for projects of vital importance to support the people of Jinja.
Firstly we will help finish decoration and fit out of a sensory room for children with Special Educational Needs in, in Walakuba Special Needs School in Jinja. This is a rare commodity in Uganda and will have huge benefits for the Children who attend the school. The funds we raise will also go towards fitting out the unit, fittings for which we will have to transport from Ireland to Uganda ourselves.
In the same school a huge amount of renovation will also be undertaken such as wall repair, roof repair, replacing some ceiling boards, purchasing and replacing mosquito nets, brighten up the rooms with new colours and murals for the children. Some of the children spend all of their time indoor with some not able to move from their back whatsoever so a mural to look at and bright colours would be hugely beneficial and mentally stimulating for them.
We hope to contribute towards the LEAP project also which is an income generating initiative. So aswell as supporting the Ugandan people, we also help them to become more self sufficient.
We plan to pay for a years worth of wood for burning, for the neighbouring mainstream school. Last year the funds raised helped renovate two dormitories and install a new kitchen. Our continued support to this school is hugely important to the students and staff alike.
While in Uganda we also plan to volunteer in the school itself and spend time with the children who often have limited human interaction throughout the day due to staff shortages.
ALL volunteers travelling will pay for their own travel, accomodation and living expenses so all funds raised go directly into the projects.
Please support us in what we know is a most worthy cause, each euro donated goes a long way once there. The improvements being made year on year are life changing to the children and their carers. Please give what you can and thank you for taking the time to read.
Jinjas Ninjas !
(We are a group of people from all over County Clare, most of whom had never met before deciding to volunteer but share the common goal of helping others less fortunate than us. We are committed to fundraising as much as possible in order to help the wonderful people in Jinja Uganda. (Again, all our own expenses we will cover ourselves (travel, accommodation, living costs) so everything you so generously donate will go directly into delivering the projects on the ground. )
