Having won the Best New Society 2011-2012 award last year, the Outdoor Society at the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union have pulled together with RaG (Raise and Give) and UHSU staff and sabb members to create a crack team of hikers to tackle the legendary Three Peaks Challenge!
On 20th April 2013, 20 people will be scaling the highest peak of each of the three mainland countries in the UK (England, Scotland & Wales) all within 24 hours! Starting at Ben Nevis in Scotland, the trekkers will make their way down to Scafell Pike in the Lake District, finishing (perhaps crawling) off at Snowdon, Wales.
The challenge hopes to raise money for the Campaign to Protect Rural England (Registered charity number: 1089685) which is an environmental charity campaigning to protect the countryside and revitalise rural communities. CPRE's dedicated volunteers campaign on behalf of local communities, improving local environments and influencing local planning decisions. Their national office gives the countryside a voice in Westminster, influencing government with strong evidence and constructive solutions. They don’t own land or represent any special interests, but believe we all need to stand up for a beautiful, thriving countryside, so that it can continue to sustain, enchant and inspire future generations. Your support in helping us achieve this challenge is much appreciated and with your donations we hope you too can continue to enjoy the benefits of a healthy countryside for a long time to come!
Thank you...
