Following Yonder Star Christmas Crib Appeal

"I wish to encourage the beautiful family tradition of preparing the nativity scene in the days before Christmas, but also the custom of setting it up in the workplace, in schools, hospitals, prisons and town squares!" Pope Francis

Tuesday’s Child traditionally runs a Live Christmas Crib from 13 December to 6 January. The crib tells  the most beautiful story ever told - the nativity of the Baby Jesus in Bethlehem, and makes the Nativity gospels written by St Matthew and St Luke come alive. In the 7 years of the Live Crib a total of £82,500 was raised and sent to catholic missionaries in partner projects to support children and their families in areas of the world exhausted by war and famine. Missionaries make even a little go along way.. The last crib raised £15,200. 

This year while we hoped to run the crib in County Down, local council builders felt the crib was a risk to the public as the roof was not robust  enough Even though the last crib was assessed as structurally sound by an independent risk assessor. So this year it will  be a virtual crib only!

Monies raised will go to gifts of food, water, medicines, shelters, education, and little gifts of parties, coats, shoes and toys for children in Gaza, Syria, Kenya, Sudan, Uganda, Ghana, India, Nigeria, Brazil and children of boat refugee families in Sicily. This Christmas may the Baby Jesus, the Divine Child, be born anew in ours heart this Christmas. The Crib Appeal will continue until the last day of Christmas on 10 January. 

Let us also pray for peace for every child in living in the world, born and as yet unborn, this Christmas, and for an end to the coronavirus pandemic.
