Story
Tuesday's Child is helping child refugees in Sicily. We are supporting the Salesian House Santa Chiara in Palermo city who care for refugee children, both children coming in on navy rescue boats and children born to refugees in Sicily. Santa Chiara kindergarden is caring for child refugees from 10 different countries from the ages of 0 - 6 yrs. Children travelling unaccompanied on boats are also sent to Santa Chiara for temporary refuge. The Director of Santa Chiara, Fr Enzo Volpe, has been helping child refugees and their families since the 1980s. With the increased escalation in refugees fleeing from countries like Syria, Iraq, Somalia, many more children need help. Tuesday's Child gives 100 percent of monies donated, as well as gift aid donations received. We work with missionaries in all project areas, who like us, work unsalaried. We ask your help for these little children, many of who have survived hazardous journeys in the hope of a better life. We are also sending an aid ship to Palermo, The Good Ship Lollipop, leaving from Belfast the first week in October. Please check our website for a list of essential items and drop off points. We ask for only new items not second hand items. Also if items can be sorted before leaving them off as we have a big challenge to get the ship out on time. Thank you.
