We support children affected by arthritis to Improve the family's experiences of JIA

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We are running (hopefully not walking in my case!) for SNAC - Scottish Network for Arthritis in Children. Yes that's right - children. Sadly they too can be affected by this horrible condition. My daughter Jos was diagnosed when she was only one. Thanks to a regimen of some pretty scary drugs Jos is able to take part in the children's race with her brother Fin. Jos's friend Aimee  also had JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis). Tragically we lost Aimee to a complication of her disease last year. The 25th of May will mark the anniversary of her funeral. We plan to make the day a celebration of her life with as many runners as possible running for SNAC in remembrance of a beautiful little girl. We need to raise awareness of JIA and help SNAC to support families like Aimee's. SNAC aims to offer as much support as possible – especially at initial diagnosis of this chronic condition. SNAC runs information days and family weekends, allowing affected families to meet, share experiences, and also to meet with the rheumatology specialists in a relaxed environment. SNAC also run various sessions for children like soft play, climbing days and other events when they can meet other children who are in a similar situation to themselves while having a fun time.

To be able to continue doing this SNAC desperately need funding. That's where you can help enormously. If you are able to donate then that is fantastic, but even if you can't you can help by passing on our Fundraising Page to others and help raise awareness of childhood arthritis. You can find out more about SNAC at www.snac.uk.com or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/SNACPage

Please help us to keep SNAC providing much needed support. We really need you. Thank you again for taking the time to read this. And a big thank you to the poor souls who I've roped in to run too!! You're amazing.
