Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest growing health crisis, working to create a world where diabetes can do no harm. It’s a fight that involves all of us – sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together. Join us.

Story

My mum had diabetes, it adversely affected her life so badly. Infections, wounds that wouldn't heal and the endless cycle of unstable blood sugars it causes.
My dad has diabetes too, and I wish I could do more to help. My sisters and I, and my little girl are at increased risk and we need to make lifestyle changes to minimise this, so swimming to raise money and awareness seems to make sense. So many friends and family are affected by diabetes, it seems like a modern plague. It makes people complacent, so many people live with it, the people who die prematurely because of it are often not seen. This cause is very close to my heart.
