Story

I can't quite believe it either...but yes, I’m running the London Marathon this year!

It has always been my goal to run the London Marathon, and after four years I've won a place.

When I found out I was so pleased and excited...then I thought “HOW far???”

Well...They say you should 'walk before you run' and that is how I started my journey.

I began with 'run for a bit, walk for a bit' and, when I could ‘run a bit’, I joined the local athletic club.

A big thank you to the Loughton Athletic Club for your warm welcome, advice and encouragement.

The charity I have chosen to raise money for holds a special significance for me.

Team PB is the Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care.

We lost my brave and beautiful sister to breast cancer in August last year, and my Dad to prostate cancer in 1991.

I know they will be with me on April 22.

They would be proud, but would find it hard to believe I’m running a Marathon!

Unfortunately there are many people battling against prostate and breast cancers, so I felt it was important to do my bit and help raise some much-needed funds.

Hopefully more loved ones will win the battle.

Please donate as much as you can - every £1 goes a long way.

Love Tracey X

The Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care have teamed up joint official charities for the 2012 Virgin London Marathon. Together we are TeamPB! Our goal is to recruit our biggest team to date and to raise £1 million to help change the lives of those affected by prostate and breast cancer. Prostate cancer and breast cancer are the most common cancers in men and women respectively in the UK today. This year 37,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 50,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Combined, more than 750,000 people are living with these two cancers in the UK right now. By running together we can raise more awareness and more money to support the more than 750,000 people living with these two cancers in the UK right now. Donations and Gift Aid made to the Team PB JustGiving pages will be split 50/50 between both charities.
