Story
The charity Cardiac Risk in the Young, CRY, say that 12 young people a week aged 14-35 die from undiagnosed heart conditions.
Our son and brother, Tom, was one of them. He died aged 14 in 2007. Tom's mum, Claire Prosser, worked tirelessly for CRY. Claire also died from a heart condition, aged 54, on December 1, 2014.
This page is therefore a tribute to both Tom and Claire. We are extremely grateful for the support our friends and supporters have given Tom's Fund over the years and are hugely thankful that this is continuing.
In November, 2022, 99 young people were screened at Trailfinders Sports Club in Vallis Way, Ealing. Six were referred for further tests More than 3000 young people have now benefitted from free screenings since our first event in 2008. That's all down to the generosity of our supporters.
In total, the Fund has raised more than £220,000 for CRY. Most has been spent on free heart screenings but we have also supported CRY's research programme and purchased an echocardiogram for the charity.
