Hi friends, colleagues, family,

I am running for the Athens Authentic Marathon on the 8th November! I have had the gruelling experience of running these historic 42kms once before, but I have not yet done anything more with my efforts than run for the personal achievement. However, this year I am not doing this only for myself. I am also running to support Home-Start Hellas (Greece) through Home-Start Worldwide.

Home-Start is a UK originated organisation providing humane, steady support to families with young children through local community volunteers, for as long as is needed as families go through difficult times. As I'm sure you can imagine, after years of severe economic crisis, this is one of many key community charities which Greece is in great need of. Home-Start Hellas focuses it's attention on the area of Pireus, one of the poorer areas of Athens, and helps to protect the next generation to make the most of future opportunities. I really hope all of you - friends, colleagues and family - can donate something, small or large, for this good cause. The money raised will go to a country and for families with many needs.
