I have been an avid supporter and regular donator to Macmillan ever since I lost my Dad to lung cancer in October 2000, so when I received an email from them asking me to take on a life-changing trek in what will be a big birthday year for me next year, how could I refuse?
The trek is 40km at altitude over 10 days and I will be covering all my own costs, meaning that all the money I raise will be going straight to Macmillan to support the fantastic work that they do which I have seen first hand.
Whilst this challenge is being done in memory of my Dad, whom I miss dearly, I would also like to include those family members and friends of the family we have also lost to this dreadful disease; Hilary Pacifici(Family friend)1962-1994; Geoff Mason(Dad)1939-2000; Beryl Barber(Aunt)1937-2009; Terry Punyer(Uncle)1946-2010; Gladys Thacker(Aunt)1940-2014.
On a lighter note I would also like to do this in celebration of those who have beaten cancer or who are fighting it; Heather Punyer (Aunt), Kay Punyer (Cousin), Zoe Thacker (Cousin), Rodney Barber (Uncle).
