On October 8th last year, I and a group of co-workers had planned to tackle the Three Peaks Challenge (climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours).

 

The challenge was delayed due to 100mph winds on at least two of the three mountains, and was pushed back to July 21st. Now that our second attempt is approaching, I am asking for sponsorship once again!

 

Our objectives are to raise money for Heart Research UK, as well as to challenge ourselves and have a good time. Having said that, we are entirely at the mercy of the great British weather so achieving two of these three aims may be more realistic.

 

In 2009, 17% of premature deaths in men and 8% in women were from Coronary Heart Disease in the UK. Many of us, me included, have close relatives or friends who have been affected.

 

A number of heart charities are doing valuable work in this area. Our chosen charity carries out pioneering research and is responsible for some revolutionary medical breakthroughs:
