'Smart Works is a UK charity that dresses and coaches unemployed women for their job interview. We empower each woman by giving her the clothes, coaching and confidence she needs to succeed and transform her life. After visiting Smart Works, 65% secure a job within a month, gaining financial independence and starting a new chapter.'

Hi i'm Joanne and I am a photographer based in Walthamstow East London, specialising in Fashion, Beauty, Portraiture and Still Life. 

I'm an advocate for women supporting women and this project is designed to do just that. 

'This Woman's Work', a title created by the Legend that is Kate Bush, is a photography project where I will gift local women in business/work a short complimentary portrait session and at least one image. The images can be used to support them in their work, whether that be for a press release, social media or linkedin profile image. Or maybe they just want to have a cool picture and donate to a great charity!

I also want to provide a platform where women can share their strengths in having to adjust during very difficult circumstances and to tell other women of any success stories or top tips in business reform.

In return for the photography session and images I am asking those that can for a voluntary donation to Smart works to help support unemployed women into work during the recovery of this pandemic. All proceeds raised will go directly to this cause. There will be so many more women in need of support during these uncertain times.

A special thanks to Jane Walton and to Eleanor Stevenson for their massive contributions in getting this project off the ground. Their creative expertise, knowledge of branding and epic design skills have really helped to bring everything together!!! Women helping women!!
