Olga's Theodore and Sebastian's story

Theodore and Sebastian's story · 26 November 2016
Theodore and Sebastian, our identical twins, are now 16 months old. They suffered TTTS (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome) - a placenta disorder which allows blood flow to only one of the twins. They were given only 30% chance of pulling through. Still carrying the twins I had surgery and the odds of surviving changed to 60%. Finally in week 29 of the pregnancy they were delivered at Salisbury District Hospital. From the very beginning we were able to stay with the boys in the one of the rooms at the Neonatal Unit. The nurses and all of the team in the unit fought tirelessly for the boys and supported us amazingly. Even when Theo had to go to Southampton Hospital to have 12cms of his bowel removed and we were split between two hospitals, the team supported us above and beyond. During this stressful time this team became our family. After Theo’s return we stayed in the Kangaroo Rooms where we could be with the boys all the time, having a chance to make the crucial bond between baby and parent after this hard and stressful time. Without Stars Appeal and the Team at Neonatal Unit, that very tough time would have been even tougher. As they boys are now strong and healthy, we feel it is our turn to give some of that love and support back. A BIG THANK YOU for your donation and a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all of our Neonatal Family.
