***UPDATE***

So, since signing up to this challenge the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the game, to say the least, and the Lake District Challenege was cancelled. 

I was really dissapointed, although not surprised but not wanting to be beaten I've decided to do a 50km (31mile) run around London on 13th June. 

As this run is longer than the marathon distance it is technically an ultra-marathon, and although not as far as the originally-planned 100km I am still hopeing to raise plenty of money for the amazing charity  Leukaemia UK and all the brilliant work they do. 

Huge thanks to all those who have supported me thus far and I'll keep you updated!

Some of you will know that in January 2020 my mum was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. 

The treatment she is receiving, a new kind of chemotherapy involving injections as opposed to the traditional intravenous drugs, hasn't been used for this kind of Leukaemia before and would not be available without the huge amount progress that has been made over the last 20 to 30 years surrounding the treatment of blood cancers. 

Leukaemia UK has done amazing fundraising work to allow the necessary research into this disease to be carried out and in turn for more lives to be saved. 

I'm delighted that Charlie has (madly) agreed to do this challenge with me and whilst dragging ourselves round 100km of the Lake District's finest countryside won't be easy it will be made a lot more satisfying knowing that we are supporting a charity that is doing some really incredible work.
