Holy Ghost Sponsored Fun Run · 7 July 2013 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On 7th July we are all going to run round Clapham Common to help raise money for our school. Ben is running 12k, Claire 5k, Oliver 2k and Isabella 1k – so a total of 20k for the Rudall family!
The overall aim of the day is for Holy Ghost families to run the equivalent distance of London to Paris...and possibly back again. It's all in aid of the school's Learning Lab appeal which you can read more about below. We need to raise £125k to rebuild the school's derelict library and ICT classroom which are no longer usable. As a school we have already raised more than £90,000 but we need help to hit the final target.
Please support us if you can and we promise to run as fast as we can!

What is the Holy Ghost Learning Lab Appeal all about?
The Holy Ghost Library and ICT Suite occupy a large space to the rear of Holy Ghost School. Roofing and damp problems have led to the space now being in desperate need of repair. Funds will need to be raised to undertake this work. However, this does provide an opportunity for us to carefully consider this valuable space and how we can best use it.
Why not simply repair the existing space?
Times have changed and the space is no longer fit for purpose. The shelf space in our small library isn’t adequate for the many books we have acquired. And although once state-of-the-art, our ICT suite with its fixed desktop computers has become redundant due to advances in technology. All this has led to this large area of the school being little-used by staff and pupils. Space is a precious commodity at Holy Ghost, so it seems an ideal opportunity to transform this large, dark, under-used area into a bright, flexible and practical learning space encompassing our library.
An opportunity to make Holy Ghost School an even better environment for learning.
A better library: Airy and accessible, our new library will be available to children throughout the day.
A better, flexible space for learning: clever design means that we can keep the space flexible and easy to adapt for different uses.
Better provision: Our school hall is constantly in use and there are times when our provision is limited by the availability of space. The new space could accommodate up to 60 people for presentations or activities, opening up more opportunities for our pupils.
Better equipped for the future: Today, we have laptops and I-pads, tomorrow, who knows? By keeping the space open, and flexible, we’ll ensure its value in the years to come.
Why won’t the Government funding pay for this?
Being a small one form school, our government funding is amongst the lowest of any primary school in Wandsworth. Additionally, funding for projects of this sort has been drastically cut over recent years. Simply put, current government funding is not sufficient to keep our facilities up to date and competitive with other schools in the Borough.
