Story
We are the Meththa family and we are fundraising for this wonderful charity which is close to our hearts. The Meththa Foundation is a charity which strives to provide a modern rehabilitation service dedicated to disabled people in Sri Lanka who seek their help, which would then enable them to achieve their full physical potential with the use of customised artificial limbs, appliances or posture and mobility equipment that they fabricate using appropriate, innovative and cost effective technology. They also train them to use the appliances to achieve the best possible outcomes. They obtain
most of this equipment as donations from many rehabilitation centres in the UK.
Their Motto is WASTE NOT-WANT NOT. Accordingly, costs are kept low by optimally recycling materials and employing a very active research and development programme to fabricate their own components using appropriate low cost technology.
Many Srilankans in the U.K. hold fundraising events every year to raise funds for this worthy cause and we call ourselves the Meththa Family. Due to the corona virus pandemic, we have been unable to hold these events.
This year, we plan to walk along some walking trails in the UK, over the summer. We would do these in small groups to maintain social distancing. We will be posting photos as we go along.
Please visit their website http://www.meththafoundation.org.uk/
to learn about the extent of their work which is provided through two
well equipped centres in Mahawa & Mankulam. They also have a mobile workshop to provide an outreach service to remote areas.
Please support us in our endeavour generously. Thank you for your kindness!
