Story
The Dental House Practice is delighted to confirm that its charity partner for 2020 is Love, Jasmine.
Love, Jasmine is a local charity, established by Rob and Kathy Lapsley in 2016 – following the tragic death of their daughter, Jasmine, in August 2014.
They set up the charity to support other families who had lost a child. Jasmine’s death meant that they experienced first-hand what support services were and were not available. They then set out to improve the support that was available to bereaved families in the Merseyside area.
Love, Jasmine provides bereavement support to families who have a lost a child of any age from 20 weeks gestation to adulthood. They take a holistic approach to the support they provide families, as they understand that everyone deals with their grief and trauma in their own way. They provide:
- Emotional – One to one counselling, couples counselling, family group work, support groups and coffee mornings.
- Practical – Advice, signposting, guidance and advocacy.
- Self-care – Complimentary therapies, yoga and meditation.
- Respite Breaks – Short breaks at Jasmine’s Retreat which is in Ribby Hall Village, Lancashire.
Charlotte Chan, staff member of The Dental House, states: “’The Love, Jasmine team and services have played a huge part in my husband and I learning to cope with the loss of our daughter Margot. We have received counselling and complimentary therapies, which have helped us grieve and practice self-care. In deciding which charity to support this year, choosing Love, Jasmine was a no brainer. The support they offer can be a lifeline for bereaved families.”
Dr. Stuart Garton, Clinical Director of The Dental House, states: “The Practice has always supported local charities since it opened in 2015. For 2020, the Practice wanted to engage with a local charity and develop a comprehensive programme of events and activities across the whole year – that our staff could get behind, and that could ultimately help make a big impact for the charity itself. When I heard about the excellent work of Love, Jasmine and met Rob, this local charity quickly became a very clear and obvious choice for the Practice to support next year.”
Rob Lapsley, Co-Founder and Director of Love, Jasmine states: “We are absolutely delighted that The Dental House Practice has decided to support Love, Jasmine in 2020. We look forward to working with the team closely across the year – helping us to raise awareness of our work and the support that we can offer to the community”.
