Story
My name is Leila Maldonado. I'm a senior at Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School in Rumson, New Jersey. On May 25th, 2020, police committed an act that resulted in an uproar from all communities of color. The murder of George Floyd has led to the mutual unity in protest despite the hardships of a pandemic. Though I try my best to join the frontrunners of the Black Lives Matter movement, I know that I can do more. Protestors around the U.S. are being falsely arrested simply for using their freedom of speech. They are accused of inciting violence during moments of complete peace and are taken into custody without reason as to why they are detained in the first place.
I will be streaming on Wednesday June 11, 2020 for 12 hours in support of these issues.
