Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It all started with the leaving bash on April Fool's Day- the day after which I cycled to the ferry to leave England via Poole on 5th April.
The intention is to cycle to my sister's in Kangaroo Island, Australia from here in Devon (and maybe back again). I have 18months to do it (because that's the maximum travel insurance I could get!).
I am now on DAY 8 (9th April) and it's a rest day here in Couesmes-Vaucé which is just as well coz it's raining. Off in the direction of Paris tomorrow.
Many people have asked me if I'm 'doing it for charity' - and I hadn't intended to, and then I changed my mind. P/Hop is the knitters' charity (thanks to Natalie Fergie at Yarn Yard for starting it off - see http://www.p-hop.co.uk for a full explanation).
I know that this trip will be incredibly challenging and intermittently lonely, frustrating, boring, scary, hot, cold, wet, and windy. In fact I understand that this trip could be really bloody awful. But I also know that if it's all really horrible I’ll cut my losses and change my plans (which is liberating). I can alter my route, stop for a few days, or perhaps fly or take a train/bus/boat. There's always the option to just come home. (Unless the husband changes the locks).
I could even hole up in France for the duration and photoshop pics of exotic locations into the background of selfies - "and here I am in the Sea of Tranquility" - oh, hold on, I'm not THAT techy.
I therefore cordially invite you all to read my blog at www.tutleymutleytextiles.com or on FB - tutleymutley - personal blog or even on Crazy Guy on a Bike (I'll really appreciate the 'virtual company' when I'm sat in some bus shelter being a hobo). I plan to illustrate my journal with my own sketches: well - that's the idea anyway - we'll see how the dream survives contact with the reality. So, if you enjoy reading the journal and want to make a donation then please do calculate the pennies per hour of your pleasure to MSF .
