Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm riding Route 66 which runs from Chicago to Los Angeles all 2500 miles of it with the aid and support of my mate Pete Speck in the back up motorhome. I'm hoping to be joined by Dennis Regan and Steve Wood but they are still trying to arrange work committements, but both are helping me with my training. I am also getting great support from my local bike shop Cyclogic in Helston who have been fantastic, so thanks to Steve, Pete and Shane.
Why Route 66? well after succesfully riding France in September 2011 and raising a shed load of money, I returned home to see Billy Connelly's Route 66 documentary which got me thinking especially as my late brother would often fly over to his Chicago office, for me it was his way of inspiring me to get on and do another ride and do my bit to try and raise more money for the brillant job Cancer Research do.
So the trip - I will be flying out of Heathrow on 3rd September to Chicago and hopefully start riding on the 5th for what will be the biggest challange I have taken on so far. I'm hoping to reach Santa Monica beach by the first week in Octobebr to be greated by Nigel holding a very cold beer, god I can wait!!! Ive been off the beer for training and I am in dire need of one.
The Target - To reach Los Angeles in one piece and raise as much money for Cancer Research, I'd like to raise 10k if possible but what ever comes in will make a difference.
In Summary - I'm doing the ride of a lifetime and the donations will help Cancer Reasearch extend someone elses lifetime so please please donate. No donation is too small or indeed too big.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
All the Best

After starting off in Chicago I successfully completed Rute 66 in 23 days. It was hot at times, wet and windy. I had a few accidents and carried out running repairs to the bike as I went but got through the ride. Biggest hurdles were the mental challnge and getting severely dehydrated with a lack of fluids which had an impact on the body but well on the way to getting fixed. I rode to the end of 66 down Santa Monica boulevard with ac/dc sounding out from my phone on my handle bars and had my photo taken at the end by a young couple who were well impressed with the rideand the money raised.
The route was challenging with what was epic scenery and fantastic people along the way. All very worth while and a massive Thankyou to everyone who has donated to Cancer Research who do a fantastic job.
Look out for the next challenge, I will be back in the next couple of years with an even bigger challenge.
Thank you all again
