We are a small group of Thomson Reuters employees (Seyi Adewuyi, Brett Gerbaldi, Yixuan Jian, Alison Langley, Ian McLaren, Alba Melchor, Kevin North, Boryana Petrova, Romeo Radanyi, Michael Tamou, Josh Tate) inspired by the work of the Thomson Reuters Foundation in their efforts to end the often hidden crime of Modern Slavery, where rates of conviction are extremely low. We also want to raise awareness of the plight of one of our Thomson Reuters Foundation colleagues - Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. To achieve this we are taking part in the first ever (mud-free) 'Up Late' City Tough Mudder @ the 2012 Olympic Park, Stratford on Friday night, 23 March 2018:
"Expect all of the teamwork, camaraderie and epic obstacles from a classic Tough Mudder, but leave the mud behind as the event comes into the city.
Tough Mudder 5K is not a race but a team based challenge. There will be world-class obstacles and the unmistakable Tough Mudder atmosphere too - spectating is free and encouraged across the 5K course."
Training has already proven to be a pain-inducing experience (Michael already reduced to tears while begging our instructor for mercy), but we remained buoyed by Ian's pledge to develop some upper-body strength.And morale has been boosted by successfully overcoming our first major challenge: trying to squeeze Seyi into a 'Team TR' T-Shirt much too small for him..
