Story

On Saturday 20th June 5 cyclists will set out from Trimdon in County Durham and ride 270 miles non-stop to Vauxhall in central London to raise money in support of North East Autism Society (NEAS) and to mark their 35th Anniversary. This is a major cycling challenge that will test the endurance and stamina of each and every team member!

TEAM NEAS members are:

  • John Phillipson, CEO of North East Autism Society (NEAS)
  • Peter Brookes, Durham County Councillor
  • David Shipman, Strategic Commissioning Manager, Durham County Council
  • Andrew Gilmore, Finance Manager, Durham County Council
  • Kieran Brookes, School Registrar, City University, London

The team will be cycling to raise awareness of autism and to help raise funds to support NEAS Family Development Services that offer vital support to families across the region and includes toddler groups, parents workshops, family support group, social groups for adults and trampolining club.

Autism is a condition that affects 1 in a 100 people and over 26,000 people in the North East. The incoming Chairperson at Durham County Council, Jan Blakey has adopted NEAS as one of the two charities that she will be supporting for her year of office which commences on the 20th May 2015. So please give what you can for this very worthwhile cause!

We will keep you up to date with news from TEAM NEAS throughout their training and journey, let's all get behind them and show our support.
