Story

The Political Violence team will be attempting to run, cycle or walk a combined 1,000km during the week of the 20th July, raising money for ‘The Brokerage’ and specifically their ‘2020 generation fund.’

The Brokerage has been working with disadvantaged young people for nearly 25 years to help them achieve their career potential and provide access to professional jobs in banking, law, finance, professional service and technology. As the leading charity driving social mobility in the City of London, their award winning programmes reach over 8000, and support 600 young Londoners every year.

“As a result of Covid-19 we had to suspend all our face to face programmes for our young people with immediate effect. However, our young people need us now more than ever as they are at a very crucial point in their life between education and work. “Help me
please”… that’s one of the simple, yet gut wrenchingly powerful messages they received through their ‘Youth Voice’ survey. The survey asked our community of young people, who are all talented and motivated from disadvantaged backgrounds, how they felt in this current crisis brought on by Covid-19.”

This is why they have launched the Generation 2020 Fund. Contributions to the fund will help develop new digital package one to one support, including mentoring and masterclasses with City employers and will serve to replace their face to face programmes.
