Story
Thank you for coming to our fundraising page.
If you have found your way here you are probably already aware that on 11th July 2021 we sadly lost Dougie Mcleod.
Dougie was one of those rare individuals who could bring together all sorts of people, from all walks of life and with different backgrounds, interests and experience. He changed people's lives by bringing them into his massive circle of friends and by caring for us all as if we were each his single best friend.
He dragged us on cycle trips, walks, tennis, table tennis, badminton, padel and quiz excursions and every single one was filled with his terrible jokes, bad taste comments and tall tales...our lives are much less full without him.
However, in his memory we have decided to put to good use all the experiences he made us suffer :-) and we are going to use our Dougie taught skills to raise some money for Histio UK.
There will be a series of runs, quizzes and events where you can help us raise a bit of money for the charity which research the terrible illness which stole Dougie from us...we will also let you know what is being planned so you can join us too.
It would be really good if you could help us remember him in the positive and social way we know he would have wanted!
We completed our 2nd annual charity quiz night, on Friday 22nd March 2024 at the Leith Dockers club. It was a new venue for us this year and brought us a far larger capacity, so we more of Dougie's friends and family were able to get together to remember him over a night of quizzing and a wee sherry! The quiz was as always be hosted by Dr Paul!
Others were also making their own special contribution to the cause. Robert out there running the streets, and we hope to maintain our great record in winning Dr Paul’s quiz to keep adding to our total! Hopefully see you all soon!
PS - we have been doing so well at the quizzes that I have increased our target to £6000 - we are so close! :-)
