Story
On 24th April 2016 we will be running the London marathon to raise money for Samaritans. Both our dad's death in 2004 and brother's in 2012 were completely unexpected and devastating and we miss them every day.
In the UK suicide is the single biggest killer of men under 45. Samaritans work hard so fewer people take their own lives, trying to reach people before they feel suicidal by:
- Being available 24 hours a day to provide emotional support for people who are struggling to cope or experiencing feelings of emotional distress, including those that may lead to suicide.
- Influencing public policy and raising awareness of the challenges of reducing suicide.
- Reaching out to high-risk groups and communities to reduce the risk of suicide.
- Working in partnership with other organisations, agencies and experts to reduce suicide numbers.
The marathon will be a huge challenge for us both and we will greatly appreciate your support. We are teaming up to raise as much as we can for Samaritans as we feel strongly about increasing awareness of suicide and reducing the stigma surrounding it.
Dad and David were the best father and big brother we could have had and we are irrevocably heartbroken without them.
Please donate as much as you can and encourage others to do so too by sharing this page with any friends of David and dad.
Thank you so much, Steph and Helen. Xx
