Story
Abaana are currently seeking to provide essential provision for those that are struggling due to COVID-19 crisis in Uganda. With the country on lockdown, there are many families who no longer have a source of income and therefore cannot get access to basic supplies such a food. Abaana is seeking to respond with help in 4 different ways:
1. Provide food parcels for families that are at the highest risk during this time. Those that have lost their jobs, or have no income and cannot afford to feed their families. To date (June 2020) we have provided over 30,000 meals.
2. Rescue children off the streets of Kampala, Uganda. Those that relied on income through begging or through scavenging no longer have ways to feed themselves. We are looking to help as many get off the streets and rehouse them back with their families if it is appropriate to do so.
3. Provide Personal Protective Equipment and Hygiene resources to the health centres that are the most local to the Abaana Sponsored Schools to ensure that our Sponsored Children are able to get the help they need if they get COVID-19.
4. Support the New Life Choir children during this time. Ensure that they and their families have the provisions that they need.
