1 Million Step Challenge 2018 · 30 September 2018 ·
1 Million steps. For me that was impossible to imagine. But then you break it down. On average 10,870 per day over 3 months. I still had no clue what that would mean. Well, now I know! It takes some effort (a lot of effort) to incorporate this into my typical day, sitting at a desk. I had to change habits, parking further away from the office and then walking the long route. I know the area around the office and in my hometown much better now. And that's the good thing about it. Apart from 'being forced' to spend lots of time walking outside. I even got a bit of a tan. ;-)
I got inspired by Alexa. Check out her JustGiving page for her story of not being able to walk on two feet last year, as a possible complication of Type 1 Diabetes , to celebrate being back on her own feet with this challenge. (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/alexa-cross-1millionstepchallenge) We enjoy spending time out in the lovely Wiltshire countryside exploring the area, step by step. We did and do lovely walks with Woody, the Sussex Spaniel. And together in this challenge we are Woody's Walkers.
We support DiabetesUK because they help persons with diabetes (Type 1 and 2) by research, providing helplines for newly diagnosed or when it's just getting too much, by improving diabetes care and because they are fighting for healthier people in this country by supporting people to reduce their risk to develop Type 2 diabetes.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
