We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Story

A sweetathon is the idea of Molly Blackmore, my daughter, a year four child who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in October 2012 when she was six.

Molly and her siblings, Owen and Libby-sue are asking their school to give up sweets and chocolate for 48 hours on Saturday the 27th to Sunday the 28th in exchange for sponsorship.

About Type 1 Diabetes.

Molly was very poorly when she was taken into hospital aged six and diagnosed, mainly because as parents we didn't know the signs.  She has since then injected herself over 2500 times, and does at least 6 blood tests a day.  Whilst Molly manages her diabetes fantastically she will still potentially face long term complications and is reliant on an insulin pump to replace her missing pancreas.

As parents we very much hope there will be a cure in our daughters lifetime.

Diabetes UK fund research, care events, raise awareness and have made a significant difference to our lives in supporting our journey.

Every penny counts.
