Story
Extreme temperatures, dry conditions and winds have combined to cause or escalate hundreds of bushfires, in an unprecedented fire season.
People have lost their lives, over 250,000 people have been evacuated from their homes and over half a billion animals have been killed in the wildfires.
The Swarovski Foundation has donated AUS $80,000 to the Australian Red Cross in support of their relief efforts including:
• providing food, water and relief items (e.g. hygiene kits),
• supporting people at evacuation and relief centers around Australia,
• registering people so their loved ones can contact them,
• distributing satellite phones to communities without telecommunications,
• providing psychological first aid to reduce trauma and distress,
• conducting welfare checks on the phone and in-person, and
• accompanying evacuees on naval ships.
We want to thank our Australian and global colleagues who are either directly or indirectly impacted and offering fundraising support for this important cause. Please feel free to share with friends and family, as every donation makes a difference.
We would welcome any employee donations to the Australian Red Cross to support their relief efforts for the wildfires.
