Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Ex Pupils of Fitton Hill Comprehensive on hearing about "our Mr Sutton" would like to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society He is still a much loved and respected part of our past. Trevor (Mr) Sutton had amazing energy and drive and an overwhelming passion for his work. He made an impression on all our lives through his genuine warmth and personality, and a willingness to guide, direct and help all his students, no, it was much more than this.....
Mr Sutton completed his teacher training around 1969 at College of the Venerable Bede in Durahm, Where he met his wife Ruth.
His first teaching post was at Richmond Junior School in Oldham until 1974 When he took up the post at our beloved Fitton Hill Comprhensive, Ruth at this time was teaching at Fitton Hill Infants School. Due to Fitton Hill Comprehensive having an uncertain Future, around 1984 Mr Sutton took a Postition at Helme C of E Infants & Junior School, during his time here he was seconded to introduce computers into primary schools in Kirklees, He left around 1990 and took a new postition at Roberttown C of E Infants & Junior School where he was Deputy Head & Acting Head. in 1998 Mr Sutton was Headteacher at Hinchliffe Mill Infants & Junior school until 2001. He then went on to Battyeford C of E Primary School where he was Class teacher. in 2003 to 2004 Mr Sutton taught part-time at Cumberworth C of E when he then became a supply teacher.
In 2007 Mr Sutton took early retirement due to ill health, in 2008 Mrs Sutton gave up teaching to care for Mr Sutton, unfortunatley in 2009 Mr Sutton's condition worsened and he spent several months in an assessment ward in Huddersfield to determine the amount of care he would need. Mr Sutton is now well cared for and still very much loved in a Care Home where Mrs Sutton spends time every day with her husband "our Mr Sutton"
From 1993 to 2008 Mr Sutton and his family where season ticket holders at Old Trafford.
Mr Sutton wrote and arranged performances in all his schools,
Mr and Mrs Sutton were inspired by another one of "our" teachers Mr Whitehead, and their spare time was spent travelling to good birdwatching sites in Europe & California.
Our reunion is planned and i'm almost certain Mr Sutton & his wife Ruth would have been only to happy to join us, so as we can't buy him a drink on the night, we can still help make a difference to sufferers and future sufferers and their families it doesn't matter how small a donation, Mr Sutton if he could would.
