Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you will know that I have raised funds to help Rhino Revolution over many years now. My last page was set up to cover several cycling events in 2020. Unfortunately, COVID put a stop to that after we had only managed one event. I set myself some personal challenges, sewed many face masks and with the generosity of you all, raised a lot of money that helped with dehorning operations in South Africa over 2020.
Poaching of rhinos is reaching crisis levels. At least one rhino is killed every 22 hours for their horn. Overall numbers of animals poached may be appear to be declining, but this is because there are less rhinos for poachers to find. At this rate, they may well become extinct in the wild within our lifetime.
I have signed up for three cycling events in the coming months. They will be harder for me this year as I haven’t been riding my bike as much lately. The first one is March 12th, a 71km ride from Salisbury. Next is Etape Loch Ness, a 100km ride around the shore of Loch Ness on April 24th and finally, Ride London on May 29th. A 160km ride with a new route from central London, out into the Essex countryside .
So, as usual, I am asking you to spare whatever you can. I know times are really hard for us all with the increasing cost of living, but when you see the great work Rhino Revolution are doing, you know it is worthwhile.
By the way, did I mention that one of their original, rewilded orphans gave birth to her own calf last year. A real success story!
