We fund research and provide support to anyone affected by breast cancer.

Story

I'm running the Lochaber marathon in memory of my sister Claire, who will always be an inspiration to me, and for all of our daughters, mothers, sisters and brothers who may face breast cancer in the future.

By sponsoring me you will be helping to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of all types of breast cancer including inflammatory breast cancer. You will also be helping to fund a number of research projects into the causes and targeted treatment of breast cancer.

Inflammatory Breast Cancer (the type that Claire had) is a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. Over the past 8 years, my family and friends have raised over £12,000 to help raise awareness of this particular kind of breast cancer. Many thanks to those who have helped us achieve this, and thanks to all of you for sponsoring me in this latest effort to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

IBC Know the sypmtoms; Be aware

Inflammatory Breast Cancer doesn't present as a lump. Instead the cancer forms a lattice across the breast tissue. Symptoms appear quickly and include redness, swelling, inflamed and warm breasts. The skin may look ridged or pitted and symptoms can be misdiagnosed as mastitis. (Mastitis is a common breast infection that is easily treated with antibiotics). Symptoms of IBC won't respond to antibiotics.

Thanks again

Susan
