Story
I am taking on the biggest challenge of my life, attempting to run the World Marathon Majors in support of SurvivorsUK. I kick-started my mission in November 2021 by doing a warm up marathon in Barcelona! I am now one marathon away from completing my challenge having successfully completed Berlin, New York City, Tokyo, London and Chicago; Boston is the last step on this incredible journey - 15th April 2024.
157.2 miles of running for 22 years of hiding. It is time I recognise and accept my past and move forward positively.
SurvivorsUK supports male and non-binary people who’ve been raped, sexually abused or assaulted. Every year in the UK, around 12,000 men are raped and 76,000 sexually abused or assaulted. It isn’t easy for survivors to talk about what’s happened to them: only 4% will ever do so. Of the few who do, it takes an average of 26 years to take that first step.
Each 26 miles I run will be for those taking the first step
SurvivorsUK have supported me for the last three years, helping me to work through a sexual assault that happened 25 years ago. The healing continues, the work continues and now the giving back begins. This is the first step towards helping myself and helping others to find courage, acceptance and peace to move forward and live life to the full. Please donate to this wonderful charity to help other victims find their voice.
