Story
When friends find out that I sing, I always used to tell them: "I can carry a tune but I'm NOT heading to Carnegie Hall anytime soon." Well, now I can't say that because I have been presented with this opportunity of a lifetime and I am going to take advantage of it. I get to sing at Carnegie Hall!
Students from Master Chorale (MUS 224) and Chamber Singers (MUS 222) are traveling to NYC to perform Verdi's "Requiem" at Carnegie Hall in March of 2023.
Professor of Choral Music Dr. Joshua Harper explains, "The opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The history of this iconic performance venue along with the opportunity to sing one of the most famous musical works is an experience that is unparalleled for students. This specific work is one that requires extremely large forces, the sort of work we would not produce at the College. In traveling to NYC, we can experience this work as an ensemble along with musicians from around the country."
There are 32 students signed up for the Carnegie Hall trip, but traditional-aged students in particular struggle to find money to pay for tours like this. Your donation will help YC students join once-in-a-lifetime experiences like this now, and in years to come.
