EveRRest - March 2023
Sue and Jill are going to keep Munro bashing this year, and do anything else they can to get fitter in preparation for March 2023 when they will trek for 14 days to 5384m above sea level to Everest Base Camp. They will be self-funding the trip, but are also raising money for Reuben’s Retreat, along with a few other intrepid Travel Counsellors and their friends.
Rueben’s Retreat is charity which supports families living with child loss or facing an uncertain future due to a child living with a life threatening or life limiting condition. Reuben's Retreat was started after the loss of Reuben Michael Graham in 2012, who died at just 23 months old. His Mum and Dad set up this small charity in his name. The charity which is based in Glossop Derbyshire, supports families by offering counselling, support groups, holistic therapies and breaks. They are currently working to create a holiday home from home for families to visit for respite in a caring supportive environment.
Jill is doing this in memory of her daughter Annie, who died at 3 days old at the beginning of 2000.
This is something that affects so many people on so many levels. It's such important work.
