Story

Many of my supporters will know me under my pen name of Stuart Aken.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Having suffered for over 10 years from the debilitating condition known as ME/CFS, I finally started to recover just before I retired from fulltime employment in April 2012. My recovery has continued since that time. I am also writing a book detailing my experience so I can help other sufferers and their carers and help educate the general public. Half the proceeds from that will go to the same charity.

I ran a half marathon in 1983 and raised a good deal of money for a local hospice. Running another seems a good way to get money for this new cause whilst helping me to regain a good level of fitness after so many years of enforced physical inactivity.
