To say Steve Harvey was passionate about football would be an understatement. He dedicated so much of his time to building local football teams, bringing communities together through the beautiful game, building a clubhouse at Hamworthy United where people could enjoy the games even more. He has been called a “football legend” more times now than we can count. 

He was a force to be reckoned with, a force for good, though he wasn’t afraid to disagree with people he always cultivated a respect for people that was mutually felt. 

He was a doer, a get-things-done man. But he was also a family man, unconditionally loving and kind. 

In 2019 he was diagnosed with terminal cancer in the bile duct that had metastasised to his liver. He died on 12th October 2020 with his wife, Kim’s, hand in his. She never left his side. 

We invite anyone who knew and loved Steve to donate to Football for Cancer Dorset instead of giving flowers for the funeral. Flowers don’t last long but the legacy of a donation to this charity will touch even more lives than he did alone. And that was a great many of us.
