Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A friend of mine is the founder of New Life Special Care Babies and I've decided to do whatever I can to help raise more money and awareness for this amazing charity. Although it is small, it is currently in its 25th year, and the target for this year is to have surpassed a grand total of £1m raised since its inception.
The charity essentially purchases much needed life saving equipment directly for neo-natal units, which bypasses a lot of the red tape and bureaucracy of the NHS procurement system, and also ensures that all of the money raised is spent on exactly what it was intended.
I've decided to do something difficult to really challenge myself both physically and mentally by taking part in the annual 24-hour sportathon at David Lloyd Newbury in aid of New Life. A few people play tennis for 24 hours straight which is very hard in its own right, however I fancied something a bit tougher, so I'm going to be completing a full ironman within the gym (so that's a 2.4 mile swim, then a 112 mile bike ride on a watt bike, and onceI've finished I'll be playing tennis for the remainder of the 24 hour period.
The aim is to complete the ironman within 12 hours, and then play tennis for the following 12 hours.
There's a lot of training that's going into this (including taking part in the Reading Half Marathon as a warm up) so all donations will be most welcome and will 100% spur me on.
Thanks for your time reading this, and thank you for anything that you can donate to this incredibly worthy charity.
