Please sponsor me a pound and be one of those people that make a difference, Thank you.
My wife's mum Evelyn Dixon was a very special lady who loved her Husband George, daughters Julie, Nicola, and Sharon as well and doted on her 5 grandchildren. When she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer she took it on the chin "other people get cancer so why should I be any different" she would say. She held her own all through her terrible illness, dignified, strong, providing support to her husband and daughters up to her passing.
Unfortunately this disease is hereditary, so my wife of 23 years and her two sisters are in the firing line. Yearly check ups will help pick up the disease early but more needs to be done to find a cure.
Gynaecological Cancers affects approximately 16000 women every year in the UK. Most are found in women aged over 50. But the incidence of some of the other gynaecological cancers in younger women has been rising. So I am taking on the national 3 peak challenge to raise funds for the Eve appeal which specialises in finding a cure.
The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland, within 24 hours.
The 3 mountains are Ben Nevis in Scotland (1344m), Scafell Pike in England (978m) and Snowden in Wales (1085m). I start at 6am on Saturday 29th August with the local scout group 17th Gillingham, we are 4 walkers and one driver.
