Step-Up and Get to Nakuru, 19 July 2021
We grow small businesses in E Africa to create jobs + take people out of poverty

Story

Pamela Ngesa is one of the first entrepreneurs that the Citi Volunteer Africa team worked with. Pamela’s orphanage has become very close to Citi’s heart and we continued to work with Pamela after the initial program to support her endeavour providing care and essential services for the children of Nakuru. We have already supported Pamela and her children in two fundraising rounds that has financed secure perimeter gates, functional latrines and water tanks for potable water. Our next challenge is to help Pamela complete a second stage construction which is envisaged to include: (1) dormitories for the children, (2) 1-2 classrooms, and (3) a multi-purpose room for meals and play.

Our goal is to raise £10,000 by walking a total of 10,000 kilometres – the total distance from our EMEA Headquarters in London to Nakuru.
