Story
St John's Buildings Chambers reached the final of the tongue in cheek World Cup of Chambers run by The Lawyer, in aid of #lawagainstloneliness.
We were pitted against London's Pump Court Chambers in the Final. They had the inspired idea that they would run their campaign for votes alongside an agreement to donate £1 to Aurora New Dawn for every vote received up to 1966. Hopefully we do not need to tell you the significance of that date!
In what was clearly a testament to such a good cause, we were resoundingly trumped by Pump!
It is therefore our plan to stand with Pump Court in supporting Aurora New Dawn, in the anticipation that the World Cup of Chambers has brought us not only increased communication and connection during these strange times, but will also now make a real financial difference to the charity who will be able to put the funds raised to good use.
Aurora New Dawn is a registered charity giving safety, support, advocacy and empowerment to survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking.
Their statistics do the talking: 83% of service users feel safer after working with Aurora New Dawn, 80% feel that their quality of life is improved and 91% feel confident to access support in the future. Sadly, 48% of service users go on to experience further abuse and violence, demonstrating just how key the charity's ongoing support and advocacy is.
